It’s that time of year when Burleigh Longboard Club looks forward to inviting surfers from all over Australia and New Zealand to enjoy the company of the local lads and compete in our unique surfing competition to commemorate the heroic men and women we call the Anzacs. This year we will be holding this event on Anzac Day, thus being a one day comp., contrary to last year when not only was it our 20th year but Anzac day also fell on the Easter long weekend. It’s important that you get your entry in early to avoid disappointment and enable us to make up draws etc as timing will be an issue.
This year we will kick off the festivities with a BEER and Pizza night on the the 24th April at Burleigh’s, Point Break restaurant, where you will not only partake in the company of the Burleigh crew, but also the friendly staff of the famous Point Break restaurant. This is also where you will register for the Anzac Day Dawn Surface and receive your bag of gifts. During the night there will be board draws as well as raffles with boards coming from the Mctavish Range as well as many other giveaways.
With this year’s division’s we have tried to cater for as many surfers from the varied ages as well as the elite longboarders. OPEN MEN and WOMEN, over 40’s, 50’s and 60’s as well as the Old Mal division and a Mystery event. Also this year we will have a division for the under 40’s men and women, which will give them a competitive opportunity.
The Anzac Dan Surface will be held at the southern end of the esplanade at Burleigh Heads. The day will begin with a FREE breakfast at 6.30 a.m. and after the Anzac Ode, the first heat hit the water at 7.a.m sharp.
